The One where the Sun Disappeared

My flight left Beijing at 2pm 4th December and I arrived in Frankfurt at 5pm 4th December. No, it wasn’t a 3 hour flight, there’s a 7 hours difference between Frankfurt and Beijing, and its 10 hours behind Sydney. The 10 hour fight was so painful. There wasn’t a TV screen in front of each person, but a massive projection at the front. I could barely see it. =T

But I saw next to this lovely German old lady, who spoke a few words of English. We tried to have a conversation but it was so hard.

When we got off the plane, I looked for signs that would point us to the directions of our luggage. But I couldn’t understand the sign above me. It kinda looked like English, so I assumed it was German. But then I looked at it closer, it was English, the sign was just upside down. D:

At Frankfurt Airport, my Dad got stopped once again but this time it was by customs who questioned him about what was in his luggage. I mean everyone else walked by fine, only he was stopped. ._.

The Hawaiian shirts are now gone and they are replaced with very thick jackets. It’s so cold here and the days are very short. I have yet to see the sun. I would wake up and the sky would be pitch black. You’d think it’d still 2 in the morning but then you look at clock, it’ll be 8am and it’ll get dark at 4pm. I swear I’m constantly feeling so sleepy. I don’t know if it’s the cold weather or the fact that it gets dark so early. But my dad says its cause the heater is always on, which means there’s no fresh air, so I always feel tired.

But otherwise Germany is awesome! Here are some discoveries I made during my dates with Frankfurt:
  • The air is so clean.
  • Traffic actually stop for you.
  • The streets are very narrow so people generally own small cars and do ridiculous parking tricks.

and sometimes they let you park on the side walk
  • On some highways there are no speed limit. Once we went 260km/hr. Its actually quite scary. I mean that's more than 3 times my legal speed limit!
  • Blankets are offered if you choose to sit outside for a coffee.

  • There are over 100 free TV Channels in a variety of different languages.
  • They have markings on the glasses so you know how much your getting!

No Asians can rip you off here!

  • Sausages are HUGE! The have to be halved to fit inside the bun. That just sounded very dirty.

  • Christmas market are very pretty

  • They actually show nipples in ads on the walls of sex shops! =O
  • There's a red woolies! RED

  • Taxis are Mercedes Benz

My mum was like Mercedes Benz must be cheap over there, screw the souvenier- I want a car! LOL!

  • Casinos require you to wear formal wear! They are very small over here unlike StarCity, but they have a James Bond feel to it. Very fancy and bow ties everywhere. =)

  • Oh, but my favourite one of all (other than the titties) is this

LOL!

Doesn't she look like our yr 12 school captain, Jessica Bent?! =OOOOO I found this poster in front of a fish shop. and cracked up! =D Is Jessica Bent German? o_O?

So jealous much, Cynthia?

P.S. OMG ONE PIECE MOVIE 10 STRONG WORLD HAS PREMIERED!I've been waiting for this day for 2 years!! =OOO I wish I was in Japan for it! They got POSTERS and stuff! =T Now I'm waiting for the crazy fans to first somehow get it and sub it for me!

I bet a banana that this line is longer than the one for Twilight. OP is AWESOMEEEE!

The One at Asian Hawaii- Day Four

Day Four

We spent the morning getting the bags back to the main Island and then travelling back to Monkey Islet by cable.
The view was awesome.

Monkey Islet was filled with monkey. I know, biggest shocker. But there were monkeys everywhere. You’d be walking around and then there would be either a monkey walking beside you or dangling above you.

We watched some awesome monkey acts and then we headed off the island for lunch. Before the food even arrived my dad exclaimed that this was the best restaurant in all of China! I was confused, and I was like why? The restaurant didn’t look very impressive. He then pointed at this:

This was the first restaurant we’ve been to during a stay in China that offered free tissue! LOL!!

After lunch, before heading off to a fruit market, my dad was approached by this old man, who grabbed his hand and said that he had a good fortune and with 10 bucks he would be able to tell him where to get it. LOL!! My dad just laughed and said no thanks, and then the old man moved on to the guy next to us.

At the fruit market, I saw this weird fruit. It was like an apple and pear fused together.

We road on another boat to our next stop Jade Bell Beach.

The last stop before the tour ended was a coconut factory. Again, no photos were allowed, but there were allow of free samples! =)

This is a photo of my dad and the tour guide.

And that’s the end of my time at Hainan Island. I had so much fun and would recommend beach lovers to head on over! =D there’s still a lot of things under construction, so in a few years, it’d probably be another paradise on earth.
I fly off to Beijing for a night before a 10 hour flight to Frankfurt, Germany.

The One at Asian Hawaii- Day Three

Day Three

The day started with the usual breakfast and then we headed on to a crystal tour. Photos weren’t allowed so I don’t have any. But at this place there was this massive crystal ball. My dad told me to spin it 3 times with my left hand, and happiness will come. I asked my Dad what if I’m already happy? He replied with, “then you’ll be happier”. LOL! Afterwards, I asked my dad if he felt any happier and he said he did. LOL! I plan to make my own happiness, so I don’t need a crystal ball for that, just you baby. =DD

Then after getting a happiness boost we headed off to SanYa Dongtian Park, which was surrounded by another beach, but this time, there were rocks.

Yes, my dad is wearing a Hawaiian shirt. LOL! I started laughing when I saw him in it. I never thought I’d ever see him in one. But everyone was wearing one, they actually had the shorts too (like that guy in the background). Yeah, I also had a pair. But I wouldn’t be caught dead wearing it. =D

At SanYa Dongtian Park, there were:
  • A fallen tree

  • A Cave

  •  The Temporary Palace of the Dragon King of the South Sea

  • Three horned cow

After lunch, we headed off to another temple.

I’m not Buddhist so I don’t know who the statue in the background is. But my dad said that she is the main reason that he’s at Hainan. That’s the biggest statue in the world of her. And here I was thinking that we were at Hainan because he wanted to show me where his family came from. =T

Then the weather got worst, which was awesome for another speed boat ride! We rode the rough seas to see some ... rocks.

Yeah, I don’t understand what was special about these rocks except those few words on it, but the ride was really fun! =D

When we got back on shore, there were vultures waiting for us. They keep shoving seashells to us. No matter how much I shake my head, I wasn’t able to shake them off. They followed us back to our bus.

One lady started screaming at another lady on the bus. Telling her to get down and buy the shells. I started laughing when that lady did get down and we almost drove away without her. LOL!

We spent the night at Monkey Islet, but getting there wasn’t easy with two 30kgs bags. I thought the boat would sink cause of their weight.

The One at Asian Hawaii- Day Two

    Day Two

The Chinese love their tea, so coffee is rarely offered in the mornings. So for a few days now, my Dad had been on coffee-withdraw and he wasn’t happy about it. Thankfully, the morning of day two was filled with nothing but coffee. We went to the local coffee manufacturing company and were offered samples of their different types of coffee, coffee biscuits, and coffee lollies. I gave dad my share. He was a very happy man. =D

Which reminds me of the time my dad and I were in Guang Zhou and my cousin offered to take my dad to a place where they sold the best coffee. He said that everyone he'd taken has unanimously agreed it was the best stuff.

... it turned out to be Starbucks.

    LOL!

After my dad got his fix, we rode a speed boat to Boundary Island. But because of the rainy weather, the sea was very rough, which made the ride so much more fun! On the other hand, because of the bad weather I couldn’t go scuba diving. =( My dad and I walked around the island instead.

Look how strong I am! =D

At Hainan, meat is a luxury and it’s very expensive. So every meal I had during my stay had been vegetarian. Don’t get me wrong, I have nothing against vegetarians, but let’s just say if I was a dinosaur, I would be Tyrannosaurus Rex! Fine, maybe I wouldn’t be that big, I’d probably be those creepy small dinosaurs who can open doors in Jurassic Park. I need meat!

What’s even worse is that every meal was the same. Mornings would be plain congee, plain buns, boiled egg, vegetables, and plain fried noodles, lunch and dinner was practically the same; there would be tofu, vegetables, slimy fake meat, noodles (which is probably crappy instant noodles) and seaweed soup. So when I saw chicken drumstick for sale, I was about to cry and bought it, even if it costs 12 bucks (2 AUD)!

    & I tore it up.

I also bought my dad a beer (how bloke-y is that? =D) LOL He said it’s so diluted it’s like water. Later that night, he proved it.

Afterwards we went to this place called Binglanggu, but before that we had lunch and even before that I really had to pee. So outside this restaurant were the toilets.

The bus ride to this place was too long and I was about to pee myself, so when I got there and I saw a huge line, where people would pay a dollar for tissues, I jumped it. I’ve learnt, and I had brought my own tissues. But some lady blocked my way, and keep saying a dollar, a dollar. I was like ... no thanks I’ve already got my own tissues, you cheap Asian. It turns out she was a cheaper Asian than I thought. I HAD TO PAY A DOLLAR TO PEE! WTF?! I was so pissed off! (LOL PUN) Never in my life had I ever heard of paying to pee! RAWR.

So what is Binglanggu? It’s a mysterious rainforest! LOL!

In this mysterious rainforest I saw a lot of things and I’ve almost died. Twice.

My dad thought it would be funny to toy with the monkey. But when he got bored, and walked away, the monkey also disappeared.

THEN IT CAME BACK TO CLAW MY FOOT!

Nasty little bugger that monkey is.

Afterwards, I flew across the jungle, flying fox style. It was so awesome. But when they were explaining the safety instructions, I had no idea what was going on and I thought I might die because I didn’t press a button or something. My dad came to the rescue, of course. =D

Oh and at Binglanggu I met Cynthia! =OOOOOO

    LOL! HAHAHA!

The next stop was another beach.

I’m not really a beach person. Yeah, I’m Australian and I don’t like the Beach. =) But at this beach I saw this sign:

& I laughed my arse off! LOL!

At night, my dad paid extra and we had a seafood feast!

It was delicious! =D but this crazy couple wasn’t satisfied and ordered TOFU! I was like ... O_O!
There was unlimited drink so this guy sitting next to me kept encouraging everybody to drink with him. Each bottle is 640mL. My dad and him ended up taking down 4 bottles each. The tour guide was drunk, but my dad was fine. On the way to the hotel, the red faced tour guide, got the microphone on the bus and told everyone he was going to get married in 3 months and then started singing! LOL! It was so funny, and he wasn’t a bad singer.

The One at Asian Hawaii- Day One

For the last 4 days, I’ve been surrounded by coconut trees and the beach. There’s never a winter in Hainan, it’s like Hawaii- but Asian style. Hainan is really beautiful, and there’s so much to do! But none of the hotels I stayed at had the internet, so I could post up anything! So get ready for a long ass post. =D

    Day One

I woke up at 6 for breakfast at 7 where my Dad and I met our tour guide and also our tour group. Everyone spoke mandarin. Nobody except the tour guide and my dad could understand me. My dad knows how to speak Cantonese, mandarin, Vietnamese, Hainan dialect, and he even claims he can speak English (only very fobby-ish though). So when people start talking to me, I either point to my dad and smile, and he explains I have no idea what they are talking about, then they further their conversation, looking at me once in a while (even though I have no idea what they’re are saying, I can still tell they’re talking about me =T), or I smile and starts talking in English, they always have the same reaction- ... O_O! If I want to push it a bit further I would go on and say “I’m sorry, but I have an erection, excuse me”, then walk away with a little chuckle. LOL!

The first day was jam packed. There was so much stuff to do. I soon realised that my whole tour was stuffed full. The first place we went to was a temple where I discovered my dad and I had the same sign, Horse, and we were destined for popularity. Oh yes, I am going to be president of the Cool Club. =D

But then I looked over at this:

    Cynthia? Elegant? HAH!
& my brother is definitely not a deep thinker. Far from it. ... Maybe I won’t be president, with that video on YouTube, it might not even be possible. T^T.  We then got on the bus to the next destination. But before that, someone came running towards our tour group with a tray of key chains with photos attached to them. I was like tourists vultures also exist in Hainan but then I looked closer at the photos & THERE WAS A PHOTO OF MY DAD! I mean I know my dad’s family originated from Hainan, but come one, he couldn’t be a celebrity, right?  Later I found out that these stalkerish vultures were everywhere! Finding any excuse to take your photo and making you buy it for money. They didn’t just come in key chains, they also had badges, just plainly laminated and more. It was kinda creepy at first but then it got annoying. I didn’t want to buy any of them, because they looked like paparazzi snap shots of you in your worse moment, but I didn’t want them to have those pictures of me either.

The Asian side of me won, I didn’t but any.

Then we rode down a river. Kinda like what you see in Venice, but Hainan style- which means instead of a beautiful boat, I got a plank of wood with little wooden chairs stapled on it, with a little Asian man singing Asian songs. =D

And the vultures strikes again. They came in a noisy speed boat, ruining the scene of the quiet ride. This time, I took a picture of them. Hah, how do you like it now?

We then arrived at Hainan ecological sightseeing park palms.
I didn’t get much photos of it cause some old lady started screaming at me for taking photos. I thought maybe it was a religious or tribal thing, cause the place was like a re-enactment of the tribal Hainan people. But it turns out that they had their own photographers, and they wanted to make more money. =T
Afterwards we headed down to Taiwan village scenic spot, where they greeted us with flowers. =)

But took them away after they got the snap shot they wanted. =T
At the Taiwan scenic tour when went to “Grandmother’s Home” and had a taste of their food and wine.
The Alpine Paradise was next thing on the agenda. We got to wear this cool hat and a funky necklace that kept falling off me.

We watched a performance and later got up for a dance. Actually it was more like holding hands and running in a circle. Well in my dad’s case it was walking, so my arms now feel a little longer.
    The Beach was next.
Dad and I didn’t bring any beach wear so we went and got ourselves a coconut and enjoyed the view, which marks the end of day one. =)
